Response to The Daily Post’s challenge regarding “Rewards.”
I love sunrises. The only problem is that they come so early in the morning. Although I am an early riser, getting to a good spot to even look for a photo-worthy sunrise often takes something of a drive—or if we are camping, a hike. One does not get up “at sunrise” to see a sunrise. But the sunrises here all were a minimum of an hour’s drive. I made those trips many times, often to be greeted by an overcast sky or little or no color at all. The photos shown here represent many trips but I have been rewarded with enough spectacular sunrises to have made it well worth the effort.

Sunrises are my favorite time of day. This, for me, is a one-in-a-lifetime- shot-and I had the camera.
One of my favorites (and has been featured on my blog in several places), is the one I call the “Angry Cat Sunrise,” for, I hope, obvious reasons. Taken at Cape May Beach, New Jersey—the “ears” on the “cat” are the result of a mirage caused by light being refracted through layers of cool and warm air—a reward indeed. Or perhaps the sun was angered by the noisy seagulls so early in the morning. The seagulls were a happy accident—not Photoshopped!

My reward (after a day’s work or play) is sunsets! Ha! Ha! Lovely pix.
When I leave to go out for a sunrise, my wife says, “If God had wanted me to see the sun rise, he would have made it at 10:00 in the morning!” She will go for the sunsets! Thanks for the comment.
