March 31, 2015
A little over a year ago, Leanne Cole and Laura Macky initiated a regular feature called Monochrome Madness (MM). They invite bloggers to submit a monochrome image—black and white, sepia tone, etc.—each week. MM caught on quickly, and Leanne regularly posts 30 to 40 images every week. She is in Australia, and I think she publishes on Wednesday, but because of the time difference, submissions from North America should really be sent in not later than Monday.
To check out the current MM postings and learn how to submit your own image, go to Leanne Cole Photography-MM. This is not a competition but simply a gallery of really cool and creative images, and the photographer for each image is identified.
Magnificent Manhattan (MM-2-4)
My current submission for MM is the Manhattan skyline, taken in 2011. The photo was taken from the ferry between Sandy Hook, New Jersey and the Manhattan ferry terminal. I like the black and white version of this scene because it brings out the geometric patterns of the various architectures. Look for it and all of the other really great photos in this week’s Monochrome Madness.
