Photo of the Week
Taken: Summer 2015
Along the edge of the yard, next to an intermittent creek, there is a dense, wild thicket of privet hedge, honeysuckle, and wild roses. On one of my morning walkabouts I discovered this intricate and attractive bloom emerging from the dense thicket. I have seen this before and assume it is a wildflower. Would appreciate anyone who recognizes this blossom letting me know what it is. It grows on a vine among all of the other plants in this mini-jungle.
Incidentally, I encourage the wild growth in this area. It provides nesting opportunities for several species of birds and creates a privacy barrier between the property and the county road on the other side of the creek.
Update: This is indeed a passion flower. Thank you for the comments and identification.
