“Out with the Old”

Paraphrasing from Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge: 2016 Week 4 – Out with the Old, “Odd Ball” photos are the photos that do not seem to fit into any category, but we like them anyway, and cannot bring ourselves to delete them.

Cee’s theme this week is “Out with the Old,” and that applies to just about everything, sooner or later. I happen to have a special affinity for anything rusty (old), so here are my offerings for this week’s theme.

Cabooses also qualify as items that are “out with the old.” The museum piece below, viewed from under a passing boxcar, “watches” as a modern freight train roars past. At the end of this train, in place of the caboose is simply a red light attached to the back of the last car.

When is the last time you have seen a caboose on a modern operating railroad?
